The Ram ProMaster City
is a new Ram truck designed to appeal to the business owner. It is the truck makers biggest foray into a specific market of metropolitan haulers. It really wears the DNA of having a European automaker's touch as the make has been popular overseas but not here in the States. It's might seem like an uphill battle to convince these businesses they could use something like the ProMaster City, but if this is what Ram's first shot looks like, then owners should seriously consider checking this out.
The ProMaster City is based on Fiat's Doblo and it shows. It keeps many of the similar curves with the stylized front but swaps out the Fiat badge on the front for the Ram badge and grille. It is a very attractive looking cargo van, one that doesn't seem to sacrifice the concept of style to still be capable for the business it was built for.
The rear doors of the ProMaster City
have a 60/40 split. The narrow part of the door is on the passenger side, giving whoever needs to get into the back of the truck an easier time with having curb access. The doors open at a 90 degrees and can be opened to a maximum of 180 degrees with the release button.
The ProMaster City makes traveling in a cargo van comfortable. Ram advertises the front dashboard as being a command center for a mobile office. It has all the comforts a working person would need. The steering column features tilting and telescoping, the controls are built to be used while using gloves, there is even storage trays on the front center of the console and an overhead shelf to store even more equipment or paperwork.
The cargo space offered in the Ram ProMaster is a best-in-class of 131.7 cubic feet. It also has the best-in-class in payload with being able to handle 1,883 pounds. The space between the wheel wells is 48.4 inches, giving owners plenty of room for storing and transporting goods and tools.
The Ram ProMaster City comes equipped with a 2.4L Tigershark with best-in-class 178 horsepower. Coupled with class-exclusive nine-speed automatic transmission, the ProMaster City is very capable of hauling heavy equipment while providing powerful driving power and amazing fuel economy.
